Austral Letters
of Demand – how to
prompt an immediate response from the debtor
An Austral letter is designed to prompt an
immediate
response from the debtor. The letter
informs the debtor of their obligation to
pay, the
consequences of non-payment within the specified
time
frame, and complies with all legislation,
including
Federal Privacy legislation.
Letters of Demand are prepared and mailed
on your behalf by Austral. Where payment
or contact is not made by the debtor within
the specified
period, Austral will immediately proceed
with further
recovery
action.
You can arrange the production of a Letter
of Demand by either loading the debt details
into Austral’s interactive internet
based application (DebtNet™) or by
completing and faxing to us, a Debt Placement
Form.
High volume
users can also submit matters in bulk via
spreadsheet
or auto-upload using DebtNet™—Direct.
Telephone
Demands – how to gain direct
commitment to pay
Your Recoveries Consultant establishes telephone
contact with the debtor in order to seek
their commitment
to pay the account. Should
the debtor be unable to clear the debt immediately,
we will establish a commercially viable instalment
arrangement and manage it for you until paid.
If the debtor is either unwilling or unable
to enter into a satisfactory payment arrangement,
we will advise on, and recommend further
recovery steps.
Solicitor’s Letters of Demand – when
an even stronger call for response is necessary
Solicitor’s Letters are a highly effective
means of advising your debtor that you are
not prepared to extend credit any
longer. These letters are produced
and signed by a solicitor on their
own letterhead. They clearly set
out the implications of non-payment
and are a necessary precursor
to legal action.
Solicitor’s Letters have a strong effect
in prompting a positive response from the
debtor in order that they may avoid legal
action and its associated
costs. Austral’s
access to a panel of solicitors nationally,
allows
us to arrange the production and mailing
of these letters on your behalf
quickly
and inexpensively.
